Blue Shield of California | Leigh Purry - A Glimpse of Hope
Meet our employee Leigh Purry, who fuses her career with a passion to serve her community. As the recipient of this year's Corporate Citizenship Recognition Award, her volunteer work with community-based organizations has created a positive impact in our communities.
In 2017, Leigh personally volunteered 600 hours of service to improve human services and wellbeing within communities served by Blue Shield and Promise Health Plan. Through her leadership of the Black Employee Network Community Outreach Team, she was instrumental in more than 1,000 hours of community service provided by B.E.N. members, Ambassadors and allies. Due to Leigh’s leadership, 250 children benefited by getting warm coats for the winter; more than 150 toys were donated to children for the holiday season; mentoring and scholarship were provided to minority and underrepresented groups in Oakland, Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles; and more than 1000 homeless or poor families were fed.
Created by Blue Shield of California’s in-house team in conjunction with Slow Clap Productions.
